umbrella.

does anyone know where to find an umbrella like such? this one is originally from ModCloth but unfortunately it is sold out. color doesn't really matter... although if it is red or yellow, that is a plus! if you have any suggestions on where to look, please let me know!

creativity!

i just got an insane surge of creativity to do something (as usual) totally unrelated to school and projects. i was at hobby lobby buying twinkle lights for our back deck when i happened upon some cut and sanded blank wood shapes.. like the beveled ovals, etc. i bought 4 or 5 different ones (different sizes and shapes) as well as one large oval piece that looks like it was cut directly across a tree trunk. they were really really cheap surprisingly (99 cents or $1.49)! nice cheap things to experiment with. it always helps me to get my mind out of the computer and into real life art. i stocked up on 'easter egg' color (as adam calls them) spray paints (pastel pink, blue, mint green, lavender & pale yellow) & proceeded to paint all but the large one. i have tons of lace and buttons and paints. i'll apply all of these crafty things to them and see what i come up with.

granted, tomorrow i should work on flash (and i will), but boy oh boy i hope i get time to squeeze in a little hands-on fun. i'm going to do collages and custom paintings on them so we'll see what i can come up with. i love surges like this! although they come at the worst times! always preventing me from getting "real" school work done. hmph. oh well. i also bought 20 sheets of felt in various colors so im going to do a little hand stitching and make some autumn leaves into garland, etc etc. maybe even some appliques for my wood pieces! ;dkj;alsfjs! SO EXCITED!

now i have to really get ready to head off to work. gosh, i really just want to stay at home and be crafty all night. ugh, sometimes responsibility sucks :) goodnight all! xo

experience.

last night i was at wal-mart seeing Bryan before i had to head to work and we had just got done goofing around and talking, i was walking down the aisle out of the store. these 2 girls stopped me and asked if they could talk to me for a moment, i obliged. they were very sweet Christian girls and said they felt God calling to me because i had a heavy heart about a situation. she went into detail to say God knew i was fighting a hard battle with a decision and the fear that someone i love very very much was going to let me down and disappoint me. it couldn't have been more spot on. as i was walking into the store i was on the phone with someone expressing my concern for a certain situation. for the sake of keeping this post relatively short i'll just say that i was very touched by these two amazing girls and before i left the three of us prayed aloud... right there in the middle of the aisle in front of hardware and paint. it was a situation that really put my heart at ease and helped me realize the decision i had to make but it also gave me the strength to make that said decision without fear of disappointing anyone else. i still feel very touched by the experience and i prayed in my car before heading into work and thanked God for these two beautiful girls and for Him reaching out to me exactly when i needed Him to.

i typically refrain from posting religious entries simply just so i dont offend anyone or anything of the sort, though it should really be of no concern. regardless of your religion or lack thereof, i felt it was worth of being blogged about. :)

another situation that came to head today was when i spoke to my mother on the phone. i called her and she told me that a friend who would always come into George's was killed last night. his nickname was "10-4" (ten four) and he was mentally handicapped. he was a kind soul though and he would rack the balls for the pool tournaments, etc. he doesn't drive due to his disability. last night as he was walking home (in the middle of town, mind you), a car struck him and drove off. TenFour was killed by a hit and run. i know my mom is taking it pretty hard because i could hear it in her voice. i had never even met the man but i had heard my parents talk so kindly of him many times, thus resulting in me tearing up on the phone while i spoke to her. the audacity of someone to just hit a man and drive off! my heart goes out to everyone who was close to TenFour and they will all be in my prayers. it seems as though his family has sort of "disowned" him in a way and they have very little to do with him because of his disability and the fact that they saw him as an alcoholic. whether he was or he wasn't, that isn't of importance. my mom bought a yellow rose and hung it above his picture over at George's and a jar for donations and such has been placed in there. she said news channel 4 would be covering it at 5pm but i was unable to see it. she also said there has been an arrest made and the man claimed he thought he "hit a deer"... i'm sure we all know the difference between a deer and a human being. i do hope justice is served.

sorry for all of the heavy stuff! it's a saturday night and i'm getting ready to head to the art store and then off to work! i managed to get so much homework done today. very very happy.

book swap.

some friends of mine made mention of a clothing swap the other day and while those are fun and such, i have more than enough clothing. instead, i'm thinking of a BOOK SWAP! i have several books that i've read once or more and i'm ready to give them to a new home, hopefully in exchange for a book i have yet to read. while i'll be keeping my nerd section intact (re: graphic design & astrology books), i'm ready and willing to say bon voyage to my sophie kinsellas, my anna maxteds, my silly little books and such.

if anyone is interested in a book swap, feel free to send me an email at KAELAHBEE@GMAIL.COM or you can reply below :) time for me do to an inventory check!

if several people want to do it, maybe we could make it a group effort. if only one or two are interested, we'll keep it personal and via email, etc. i need to get my read on!

busybee.

love this clock from etsy. sadly it's sold out :(

there are absolutely not enough hours in the day. oh my. i woke up at 7:45am and threw on some jeans, headed to class with a messy ponytail and a university hoodie. went to art history, realized i forgot my book therefore my notes were utterly useless. poked around the internet until 10:10am when class let out. headed straight to the viscom building to get work done on advertising. several of the girls were over there so i had good company. elle showed up and brought me a lemon fruit slush from sonic. perfect for my slump. i worked from 10am until 3pm on advertising. dale looked over it, liked the concept, gave me some really great feedback and i was on my merry way. came home to shower, talked to bry for a bit and now here i am. freezing in my room, in my pjs, about to get ready for work and head to hobby lobby to rack up on matte board, canvas, paint pens and crafty items. i like productive days like today. granted, i could have done a lot more between 3pm and 6pm but whatever. work tonight. cross your fingers that i make some ~*cash moniez*~...
